Bandon does it again

Just when you thought Bandon Dunes had won all the accolades it possibly could, another one comes along. This time, the Oregon resort was named 'Best Course' by the Zagat Survey in their annual report.

The runner-up? Whistling Straits.

In addition to the honors bestowed upon the country's best golf courses in a variety of categories, the survey also gives a glimpse into the state of golf in America.

'New' Northwest Hot Spot

When you think about retirement, what are some of the locations that come to mind? Palm Springs, Florida, Phoenix? What about the quiet, sleepy town of Bandon, Oregon. According to upcoming list compiled by ABC's Today Show, Bandon ranks in the top five for retirement hot spots.

According to a news release and story in the Bandon Western World, the show contacted the town's Chamber of Commerce while researching for the upcoming show that will unveil the list.

The list also includes Loveland, Colorado; Lake Placid, New York; Beaufort, South Carolina; and a fishing village in Puerto Rico.

If Bandon's good enough to retire to, then it's definitely worthy of a nice vacation. If you've never been to Bandon, now's the perfect time to book your trip and maybe (just maybe) play a couple of rounds at three of the top courses in the United States. We can even make a few recommendations of sites to see away from the resort.
